Sigma Tau Delta, a national English Honor Society.  Our chapter, Alpha Eta Lambda, affords exceptional students of English opportunities for developing their skills in creative and critical thinking, public recognition through annual awards and scholarships of the national honors society and through publication in its journal, The Rectangle.

 

English majors may serve as editors of the college literary magazine, Pure Pleasure, (Create link for latest edition of Pure Pleasure magazine) which provides them also a forum to publish original poems, short stories or essays.  English majors judge entries and select winners for the annual college-wide writing contest sponsored by the Creative Writing Class.  English majors frequently are contributors and editors of the monthly college newspaper, The Voice of the Wildcats.

 

The Winds of Change Poetry Club meets once a month.  In a socially pleasant atmosphere, English majors and other interested students read and listen to original poems of their peers, offer feedback and develop their creative talents and enhance their confidence in writing and speaking.

 

Majors in English are employed as tutors in the writing and reading labs where they assist other students with their writing and reading problems.
