Department of Mass Communications Faculty

The Department of Mass Communications currently has five full-time faculty. The faculty has both professional and academic experience.


Dr. Clarence J. Cotton, Jr.

Professor Cotton is an assistant professor in the Department of Mass Communications and the area coordinator for radio (WBCC-AM 830 and WRSW-FM 99.1). He teaches Senior Seminar, Practicum, Radio Production and Broadcast Programming. Prior to joining the B-CU faculty in 2006, he taught mass communication courses at Virginia State University (2005-06), the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications at Hampton University (1997-2005) and, as an adjunct, at his alma mater, Virginia Union University. He earned his PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Georgia in August 2002.

Dr. Cotton has been teaching journalism and mass communication courses more than ten years. Professor Cotton received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities from Virginia Union University in 1985 and his Master of Science in Journalism and Mass Communications from Iowa State University in 1989. He has six years professional experience as a news producer, sales research manager and marketing director.

A native of Ocala, Florida Cotton enjoys reading in his spare time.

Joan Fuller

Professor Fuller is an instructor in the Department of Mass Communications and advisor to Maroon & Gold Productions. She was born in Chicago and grew up in Robbins , Illinois. She holds Bachelors degrees in Journalism/Advertising and Radio & TV from Southern Illinois University. Also, she has a Master Degree in Public Affairs Reporting from University of Illinois in Springfield.

She Joined the News Channel 2 team in January 1997 and enjoys meeting the diverse people of Central Florida. Fuller says that her favorite part of the job is attempting to make a difference for them with the stories she covers. Before joining WESH, Fuller worked at WKMG-TV as a reporter/anchor from December 1992 to December 1996.  She got her start at the NBC affiliate in Springfield Illinois where she worked as a reporter/anchor for WICS-TV. Fuller is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists and past president and board member of the Central Florida Association of Black Journalists and Broadcasters. She's also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority and the St. Marks A.M.E. Church in Orlando.

When she's not working, Fuller spends time biking, collecting Afro centric art and reading. She also enjoys any movie by Spike Lee. Joan Fuller is currently an instructor Mass Communications and advisor to Maroon & Gold Productions.

Camesha Manzueta

Mrs. Camesha  Manzueta received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Bethune-Cookman College ( Daytona Beach , FL ) and the Master of Arts degree in Public Communication from American University ( Washington , D.C. ). She is now pursuing a doctorate in Communication Studies, with an emphasis in Organizational Communication, from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA).

A Jamaica native, Mrs. Manzueta is a noted motivational speaker, whose speeches about leadership, diversity, and effective interpersonal communication  are focused on the importance of affecting change in the world. Her academic research interests include social influence, interpersonal communication, media effects and rhetoric. 

Mrs. Manzueta and her husband, Milton, are committed to mentoring youth and recently launched Vision Ministries Outreach, Inc. As a faith-based organization, their mission is to create vision where there is no vision, and prevent tomorrow’s future from perishing today by providing young men with an opportunity to redeem, connect and pursue God’s perfect purpose for their lives.

Joanna Milton

Joanna Milton holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Northwestern University, and has been involved with the mass communications industry in New York for over 20 years.  Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle and other publications, and she also worked as on staff at Cosmopolitan and Mademoiselle magazines. She has received grants for her work in video production, and was Artist-in Residence at Syracuse University at its Newhouse television studio.

Professor Milton has served as Public Relations Director for Marymount Manhattan College and has taught communications at St. John’s University, Hunter College of the City of New York, Bronx Community College, Borough of Manhattan Community College, and Daytona Beach Community College, among other colleges and universities.
