Dedicated in 1925 as the first men's dormitory, Cookman Hall now hosts classroom and administrative offices. It is named for Reverend Alfred Cookman, whose gifts helped established the Cookman Institute in Jacksonville. In 1923, the Cookman Institute merged with the Daytona Normal and Industrial School for Negro Girls to become Bethune-Cookman College.
