Current Projects
SSEM Websites
The project is to bring the School of Science, Engineering and Mathematics to the Internet. This involves creating websites for:
- School of Science, Engineering and Mathematics. A main site for the. You may have noticed that our main page, SSEM, does not really go anywhere or say anything.
- Academic Departments. Most of the departments do not have web sites or have web sites that are disfunctional or obviously incorrect.
- Faculty. Most of the faculty in the School of Science, Engineering and Mathematics do not have personal web sites.
- Students. None of the students or student organizations have web sites.
If you are a student interested in participating in the development of any of these web sites, you should come to my office and I will get you involved. Also, I am looking for critics. Let me know if you have suggestions for improving any of the BCU sites.
BCU Web Page Validation and Accessibility
Almost all BCU web pages have serious accessibility problems. All BCU web pages should:
Pass a W3C Markup Validation.
Pass a W3C CSS Validation.
Pass a Section 508 Automatic Validation.
As far as I know, none of the administrative web pages pass any of these tests--including the home page, www.cookman.edu. Most pages give a hundred or more errors. (I can't say they all do because I have not tested all of them.)
I have a standing senior project open to any CS or CIS major to "fix" the BCU home page. You would not have access to the page, but you could download it and fix it on your computer.
