To schedule an audition at other times, please contact the Bethune-Cookman University Department of Music at 386-481-2740. When contacting the Department of Music, please provide the following information:

You will be notified of the date, time, and place of your audition within ten days of your request. Please confirm your appointment before making travel plans.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
All applicants to the music program are required to perform an audition on a principal instrument/voice. Live auditions are preferred. Video taped auditions are acceptable.
Voice
Two Arias or songs of contrasting style with at least one in Italian, French, or German
Piano
Major, minor, and chromatic scales
2-3 works of contrasting style from the major style periods: Baroque, Classic, Romantic, Impressionistic, & 20th Century.
Wind Instruments
Major, minor, and chromatic scales played at least two octaves
Two works of contrasting style (one lyrical & one technical)
Basic sight-reading in simple and compound meters
Percussion
14 Standard Rudiments for Snare Drum
Major, minor, and chromatic scales played on a mallet keyboard instrument
Two works of contrasting style (one lyrical & one technical)
Basic sight-reading in simple and compound meters
 

Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarships and financial aid are available to qualified students
Scholarships are talent based and range from $500 – Full Tuition
